RESPONDING to the call by Left parties, lakhs of people joined in the human chains organized across the State of Bihar on 25 January 2020 from 1.30 to 2.30 pm and demanded that these draconian laws should be immediately revoked. They also demanded that the Nitish government should scrap NPR in Bihar and the Bihar Vidhan Sabha should pass a resolution against CAA and NRC.
Dalits, poor, minorities, women, students and youth participated in huge numbers with placards and banners in the human chains at various places to show their opposition to the human chain organized on 19 January by the government and to declare their continued resistance to the draconian CAA-NRC-NPR. In the capital Patna, human chains were organized from Buddha Memorial Park to Radio Station; from Station Golambar to GPO Golambar; at Raja Bazaar, Patna University, Lalbagh, Samanpura, Mahavir Cancer Institute, Phulwarisharif and other places. CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, CPM PB member Subhashini Ali, CPI State Secretary Satyanarayan Singh, CPIML leaders Kunal, Dhirendra Jha, Rajaram Singh, Meena Tiwari, Shashi Yadav, Rajaram, KD Yadav, Abhyuday, and leaders from Left parties, Congress, RLD and social and cultural organizations participated in the human chain from Buddha Park. Comrade Dipankar said that the people have understood Nitish Kumar’s hypocrisy; he cannot get away with supporting CAA, opposing NRC, and remaining silent on NPR, as CAA-NRC-NPR are a package program. Dhirendra Jha said that Left parties fully support the Bharat Bandh called on 29 January by the Bahujan Kranti Morcha.
Human chains with thousands of people participating were also organized at Betia, Jehanabad, Purnea, Nawada, Araria, Darbhanga, Beguserai, Bhagalpur, Siwan, Biharsharif, Ara, Agiaon, Tarari, Mainatand in Western Champaran, Patna City, Barsoi, Madhepura and Phulwarisharif.
