CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal said on 3 December that the killers of CPIML leader and former Rohtas District Secretary Comrade Bhaiyyaram Yadav should receive their punishment without delay. The District Court in its verdict delivered on 2 December sentenced two accused persons Babu Singh and Bablu Singh to life imprisonment, but two other accused could not be sentenced as they are absconding.
Comrade Bhaiyyaram Yadav was brutally killed at Nasariganj on 14 March 2012. At that time he was active in his area in a campaign against illicit liquor. A total of 5 criminals were named as accused persons in the case, of whom Sonu Singh has since died. Two persons have been sentenced but the other two, Manu Singh and Ashok Singh, are still absconding; therefore the court has not given its verdict in their regard. However, all the guilty persons are living in their own village and it is the responsibility of the administration to produce the remaining two criminals also in court immediately. Those two should also receive the severest punishment.
The CPIML State Secretary said that it is often seen in such cases that the accused are convicted by the District Court but later they are acquitted by the High Court. The main reason for this is the government, who deliberately do not fight the case properly in order to benefit the criminals. We have seen this trend in many cases including Laxmanpur Bathe, Bathani, Miyanpur and other massacres. Therefore we demand that the government should allow no laxity and make every effort to fight the case properly so that the sentence given to all the guilty persons is reaffirmed by higher court also.
