THE AIARLA Ghazipur unit organized a meeting on 1 August 2019 at majhauli village in Sadat Block, Ghazipur District under the ‘Gaon Chalo, Garibon ke Beech Chalo’ (Reach the Villages, Reach the Poor) campaign.
Addressing the meeting, CPI(ML) CC member Ishwari Prasad Kushwaha said that funds meant for development of the poor are being looted, which is why the per unit development is not taking place in matters of ration, provisions, and housing. From 2017 to 2019, crores of rupees have been looted from the funds which were intended for the development of this village. The outgoing DM Sanjay Khatri had given orders for a probe, but till today there is no report of what the probe discovered. The poor are not being given rations per unit. They are having to pay a higher price but are receiving less rations. The poor are not able to get housing and toilets. Aged mothers and widows are not getting their pensions. There is rampant loot in the construction of toilets and ‘commission’ in the name of housing has become a business. There are a large number of people in the village who have nothing except a hut for housing. The poor are not able to make homes as they have no land.
It was decided at the meeting to hold a dharna protest at Sadat Block on 12 September 2019.
CPI(ML) District Secretary Rampyare Ram as well as other comrades addressed the meeting.
