CITIZENS held a candle march at Kargil Chowk in Patna on 25 June 2019 for justice for the hundreds of children who died in the encephalopathy (chamki fever) epidemic in Muzaffarpur. Many eminent citizens of Patna participated in this program. The meeting held after the candle march was addressed by All India Kisan Mahasabha General Secretary Rajaram Singh, AIPWA Patna City Secretary Anita Sinha, Reshma, Rupam Jha, Shashank Mukut Shekhar, Asma Khan, Anjum Bari, Mrinal, and others. The program was conducted by Samta Rai of CHORUS.
Present on the occasion were CPI(ML) leader Abhyuday, AISA Bihar State President Mokhtar, RYA State Secretary Sudhir Kumar, Naseem Akhtar, Jitendra Kumar, Anay Mehta, Murtaza Ali, Rakhi Mehta, BK Sharma, Krishna Kumar Sinha, Santosh Chandan, Santosh Arya, Abhinav, Ramji Yadav, Prachi, Fahreen, Danish, Vijay and student and youth leaders, poets and citizens of Patna.
Kisan Mahasabha leader Rajaram Singh said that it is highly shameful that the police have registered an FIR against the family members of victims of the Muzaffarpur epidemic. The family members, learning that the Chief Minister was to pass by NH 22 on 18 June, had blockaded the highway in protest. The administration registered an FIR naming 19 persons for blockading the road.
