CPIML to Fight from 22 Seats Across the Country
TO ensure a resounding defeat for the BJP-led NDA alliance in the Lok Sabha elections 2019,the CPIML had announced that it would contest on fewer seats this time. CPIML is fielding candidates in 22 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country; in the remaining constituencies will campaign for the defeat of the BJP.
CPIML will contest 4 seats in Bihar, 2 seats in Jharkhand, and also from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and a few other States. Of the 4 seats in Bihar, the candidature of Raju Yadav for the Ara seat has already been announced. The RJD and other Mahagatbandhan partners have also declared support for Raju Yadav. From Siwan the Party is once again fielding former MLA and well-known kisan leader Amarnath Yadav; candidate from Karakat is former MLA and All India Kisan Mahasabha National General Secretary Rajaram Singh; from Jehanabad candidate is former District Council member and dedicated leader Kunti Devi. The CPIML has left the Pataliputra seat for the RJD.
The Party candidate for the Koderma seat in Jharkhand is the current Rajdhanwar MLA Rajkumar Yadav. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections Rajkumar Yadav had given a tough fight to the BJP candidate and polled about 2,55,000 votes. In the latest Assembly election he polled more than 50,000 votes and defeated Babulal Marandi in the Rajdhanwar Assembly constituency. From the Palamu seat our candidate is former Garhwa District Council President Sushma Mehta. Thus CPIML is fighting from two seats in Jharkhand.
The candidate for the Mirzapur seat in Uttar Pradesh is popular leader Jeera Bharti. It will be noted that dalit woman leader Jeera Bharti has led many courageous struggles in her area. From the Puri seat in Odisha the Party is fielding AIPWA State President and dalit leader Mandakini Sethi who will fight against Sambit Patra. Well-known land rights and forest rights activist Damodar Sabar is the Party’s candidate from the Koraput (SC) seat in Odisha.
CPIML Election Campaign Flagged off from Siwan
Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani is currently on a tour of Bihar. On 31 March he arrived in Siwan on the martyrdom day of former JNUSU President Comrade Chandrashekhar and Comrade Shyamnarayan Yadav and paid tribute to the martyrs. The Party’s election campaign was duly commenced with a meeting organized at Chandrashekhar Chowk in Siwan.
On 1 April Jignesh Mevani is visiting Ara Lok Sabha constituency and campaigning for the Mahagatbandhan-supported CPIML candidate Raju Yadav.
CPIML Polit Bureau member and JNU AISA leader during Chandrashekhar’s time Kavita Krishnan, current JNUSU President N Sai Balaji, AISA National President Sucheta De, former JNUSU President Geeta Kumari, former JNUSU General Secretary and present AISA General Secretary Sandeep Saurav, JNUSU Vice President Sarika and several other student-youth leaders have also joined the election campaign.
The CPIML is carrying on a campaign from 23 March to 14 April against the fascist attacks unleashed by the Sangh and BJP. After observing the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Sankalp Sabhas were organized across Bihar on 31 March, the martyrdom day of former JNUSU President Comrade Chandrashekhar and Comrade Shyamnarayan Yadav, reiterating the resolution to defeat the BJP. 13 April 2019 marks the completion of 100 years after the Jaliawalan Bagh massacre, which inspires the people to fight against the oppression and atrocities perpetrated even today by the government. 14 April is the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, a day which inspires us to fight for freedom, justice, equality and harmony. CPIML is carrying out widespread work for the observance of these important days.
CPIML Manifesto for Loksabha 2019 Released
The Manifesto for the Loksabha elections was released by CPIML in Patna at the Cadre convention held at Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir Auditorium on 2 April. The CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the manifesto pledges to end the corrupt crony corporate Raj.
Comrade Diapnkar reiterated that to defeat NDA combine in Bihar is a major responsibility vested in us by the people. Not even a single NDA candidate should win this time in Bihar. We are also working towards intensifying our struggles in our areas of struggle which include parliamentary constituencies where we are contesting, Arrah, Siwan, Karakat and Jahanabad. The CPIML will support candidates fielded by CPM in Ujiarpur and by CPI in Begusarai, while also campaign in Pataliputra, Buxar, Sasaram, Gaya, Banka, Katihar, Kishanganj, Araria, Darbhanga, Khagaria, Motihari etc. to ensure defeat for NDA and victory of Gathabandan candidates. We will work to ensure that every vote against BJP will be caste dicisively vis a vis rampant use of black money in the election. He criticised the BJP Gov’s Electoral Bonds which is meant to end transparency in funding to parties. This is a kind of ‘secret’ donation! While people are forced to enroll through Aadhaar number and their very privacy is being infringed upon, these electoral bonds are meant to hide the corporate donors’ names. During last year Electoral Bonds worth Rs. 18000 crores were purchased, and in the two months of 2019 bonds worth Rs. 17000 crores have already been purchased. It is said that almost 90 percent of this money is going in BJP accounts. Now there is an Act which prevents people of the country from knowing who is actually funding, and which party is being benefitted. This has legally ensured funding to BJP through the Black Money and in return the party can repay likes of Ambanis and Adanis after the elections in the form of alloting projects and handing over national resources. This is corruption under BJP the scale of which is unprecedented in history. And same is with the terror and crime which have been the other hallmarks of Modi government in last five years. It is quite shameful on the part of Modi Gov that our own halicopter was shot down by our own missile in which precious lives of six army personnels were lost. Today BJP is fully exposed and despite the Chowkidar rhetoric, all of its slogans have proved great flops. The people of the nation understand grave attacks on their rights and livelihoods and they are determined to oust this regime in current elections.
The convention was also addressed by CPIML Bihar Secretary Kunal, Dhirendra Jha, JNUSU President N Sai Balaji, AISA national general secretary Sandip Saurav, Kavita Krishanan and CPIML candidates, Amarnath Yadav from Siwan, Kunti Devi from Jahanabad, Raju Yadav from Arrah and Rajaram Singh from Karakat. This was presided over by KD Yadav, Rameshwar Prasad, Dhirendra Jha, Naimuddin Ansari and Meena Tiwary.
