A Parivartan Rally was organized at Daltonganj in Palamu District (Jharkhand) which traversed through the city with slogans of ‘Oust BJP, Save Palamu’ and ‘Save Jharkhand, Save the Country’ and culminated in a meeting at Shivaji Maidan. The meeting was attended by hundreds of farmers, workers, students and youth. The participation of a large number of women was notable.
In addition to the above slogans, the rally also raised slogans on the issue of drought relief and irrigation, eviction of adivasis and forest dwellers, and government employee status for all scheme workers.
The meeting was presided over by Ravindra Ram. Addressing the meeting, CPIML State Secretary Janardan Prasad said that the Modi and Raghuvar governments have proved abject failures on all fronts. These governments are working in the interests of corporate houses and are blatantly anti-people. To divert the anger of the people they are resorting to warmongering, communal hatred and other divisive tactics. All democratic institutions are being destroyed. Corruption is rampant. The removal of these governments is the only way to save Palamu and the country. The meeting was also addressed by State Committee member Kalicharan Mehta, senior leader and advocate Nandlal Singh, Sushma Mehta, and others. A memorandum was submitted in the presence of hundreds of people after the meeting.
