ON 6 January 2019, dominant caste Jat owners of a Bricks Company near village Kanwari Road (Sultanpur village) in Hansi Block, Hissar District called 3 dalit migrant workers working with tractors to their office upstairs late at night and beat them up badly with sticks and belts, leaving one worker half-dead. They deflated all four tyres of one tractor and confiscated the other two tractors; with their tractors confiscated, the workers ran on foot to their homes in Punjab where they related their tale of oppression to the CPI(ML) Punjab unit. Punjab CPI(ML) leaders then contacted Haryana Party in-charge Prem Singh Gehlawat and narrated the incident. On 7 January Com. Gehlawat went with the workers to the Hansi Government Hospital after 7 pm and with great difficulty got them medically examined and admitted to the hospital. The three workers remained in hospital for one week. Hansi Sadar Thana police took their statements and issued a chalan under the general section 107/51 against two Jat owners of the Haryana Bricks Company and two other dominant caste members working in the same factory, after which they were immediately given bail. After this, Com. Gehlawat took up the matter with DG Haryana Police, DC Hissar, and SP Hansi who have not registered any case against these dominant caste brick factory owners.
With great difficulty the CPI(ML) Haryana State unit got back for the workers their 3 tractors. The batteries and other goods like decks which were inside the 3 tractors are still in the possession of the factory owners. The dalit workers are not financially strong enough to fight the case further, CPI(ML) has demanded from the administration to take stern action and arrest the perpetrators.
