THE CPIML began its campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Bihar by organizing a ‘Oust BJP, Save Democracy’ Jan Adhikar Rally in all the seven assembly segments- Tarari, Agiaon, Jagdishpur, Sandesh, Ara, Barahra and Sahpur of the Ara Lok Sabha region from 10-16 February. Senior CPIML leaders led the yatras in different places.
On 11 February, rallies took off from Badkagaon in Tarari, Agiaon, Sandesh, Jagdishpur on 11 February under the leadership of senior AIARLA and CPIML leaders. AIARLA leader Kamta Singh, Dhudhnath Paswan and peasant leader Ramkishor Rai led the Jan Adhikar rally that started from Badkagaon in Tarari block and going through villages in Tarari, Sahar and Piro blocks, reached Dev (Tarari block ) on 14 February. The rally started from Agiaon under the leadership of peasant leader Vimal Yadav, CC member Manoj Manzil, AIARLA leaders Comrades Awadhesh Paswan. Vishnumohan and people’s singer, Nirmohi. The rally reached Malour (Charpokhri) on 14 Febraury. The rally from Sandesh began under the leadership of CC member Raju Yadav, AIARLA leader Jitan Chaudhari and Mukhiya Dharmendra Singh. The Jagdishpur rally was led by Comrades Chandradip Singh, Ajit Kushwaha, Indu Singh, Vinod Kushwaha and Shribhagwan Ram. As the rallies passed various villages, street corner meetings and public meetings were organized in various places. The leaders also appealed the people to join the Workers and Farmers March on 18 February in Patna. The rally from Ara began on 12 February. More than three dozen street corner meetings were organsied during the course of the rally.
Addressing the various meetings organized during the course of the rallies, the leaders exposed the fraud committed by the Nitish-Modi governments with the country’s farmers, workers, women, students and youth, even as the corporate houses had been given a free reign to loot the country. They also highlighted the attacks on the democracy and the Constitution, policies that attempted to end the reservation, the attempts to continue displacing the poor from their homes and lands, and machinations to incite communal and caste based hatred and violence. They appealed to people to teach BJP-JD (U) a lesson by defeating them in the upcoming elections. They pointed out how the entire country was witnessing a phase of intense movements and struggles against the anti-people policies of the government and how in turn the central government was trying to silence all the protesting voices through oppression. Declaring the BJP MP and the Union Minister of State for Power as anti-people and anti-workers, the speakers added that he will not be able to save his seat by false claims of development. The speakers appealed all to join the march on 18 February demanding – land rights for the poor, identity cards for sharecroppers, appropriate price for crops to the farmers, and dignified wages for all scheme workers.
