ON 6 February 2019 AIPWA protested in front of the Ram Sagar Mishra 100-bed Hospital at Sitapur Road in BKT Tahsil, Lucknow against the corruption being done by the doctors with the protection of the Chief Medical Superintendent. AIPWA has demanded an enquiry into the entire episode, immediate removal of the corrupt doctors, and adequate arrangements for the proper treatment of patients.
The protest was led by AIPWA District Convener Com. Meena Singh and Joint Convener Com. Manju. Speakers who addressed the protest meeting strongly condemned abusive behaviour of the police during the agitation and said that the police attempts to suppress women’s voices under the Modi-Yogi regime would not be tolerated. The hospital which was built on the demand of the poor has become a hub of corruption and wrong-doing by doctors.
The speakers further said that the Modi-Yogi governments are loudly proclaiming Ayushman Bharat but only 1% of the Budget is being spent on health. This regime is one of mere gimmicks and ‘jumlas’. An atmosphere of violence and hatred is being created among the people. These governments are bent upon destroying democracy and the Constitution and it has become imperative to throw them out of power. The Nayab Tehsildar was given a 3-point memorandum and a warning that the agitation would be accelerated if the demands are not met.
