HUNDREDS of jugad drivers organised a dharna protest on 6 February 2019 under the banner of Jugad Gadi Chalak Sangh (AICCTU) in front of the Bhagalpur Collectorate against non-issuance of permits to jugad vehicles and drivers and to demand immediate and unconditional release of jugad vehicles confiscated at various Thanas. Addressing the dharna, the leaders said that the government and administration should think about safeguarding people’s livelihoods instead of snatching away their livelihoods. The jugad vehicle is a means of livelihood for the poor. By confiscating them, the government and administration have attacked the livelihood of the poor. The Jugad Gadi Chalak Sangh will on no account tolerate this. If the confiscated vehicles are not released and licenses are not issued soon, this agitation will be accelerated.
A delegation led by AICCTU leader Mukesh Mukt submitted a memorandum to the Magistrate in the absence of the District Collector. Hundreds of jugad drivers were present at the protest.
