THE CPI (ML) Jaipur District conference was held on 5 February 2019, the 2nd death anniversary of Comrade Srilata Swaminathan at Jangid Bhavan, Mansarovar, Jaipur. 44 delegates from across the District and 60 observers and guests participated in the conference. Addressing the open session of the conference, CPI-M District Secretary Com. Sumitra Chopra, CPI District Secretary Com. Amin Ali, PUCL National President Com. Kavita Shrivastava, Samagra Sewa Sangh leaders Sawai Singh Ji and Anil Ji and others who had been comrades-in-arms with Comrade Srilata called for strengthening and sharpening people’s struggles.
The conference called for a strong movement in the District against the anti-people policies of the Modi government and for workers, farmers, students, and youth to unite and oppose the fascist forces which have captured power on the strength of corporate looters. Com. Manju Lata presented the outgoing committee report which was passed unanimously after addition of suggestions by the delegates.
Addressing the conference, Com. Mahendra Chaudhary said that we need to fight for big civic issues like regularization of katchi bastis in the cities, pattas, life, livelihood, housing, education and health for the urban poor. Hutment dwellers must be organised in large numbers under the Party banner. The unemployed must be organised and to raise their voice for the right to employment. Com. Prabhat Chaudhary said that the agitation for Rs 600 minimum wage must be accelerated to strengthen the Party among workers and the unemployed.
In the concluding session, the delegates unanimously elected a 11-member District Committee, which then elected Com. Rahul Chaudhary as District Secretary. The District Committee includes 5 women members: comrades Manju Lata, Parveen Bano, Deepa Mehra, Manju Begum and Lali Luhar.
Observer Com. Shankar Lal Chaudhary congratulated all the delegates on the success of the conference. He said that the true road to freedom for workers and the poor will be achieved only through strengthening of the CPI (ML). He called upon all the delegates to actively discharge their duties and accelerate the movement to strengthen the Party.
