A shameful incident has come to light which occurred on 5 February 2019 at the Giridih Jhanda Maidan during the inauguration of the Mukhya Mantri Sukanya Yojana by the Chief Minister Raghuvar Das. The police took off all black clothes, shawls, dupattas and sweaters worn by the women who had come to attend the inauguration ceremony. AIPWA activists registered strong protest over this incident and organised a protest rally. The rally started from the Union office at Bagodar Bus Stand and culminated in a protest meeting.
CPI (ML) State Committee member Com. Poonam Mahto said that the BJP touts the slogan of ‘Mahilaon ke Samman Mein, Bhajapa hai Maidan Mein’ (BJP fights for the dignity of women) but the reality is that hundreds of women are being humiliated on the excuse that they are wearing black clothes. After the lathi charge on para teachers on 15 November 2018 at the Moharabadi Maidan in Ranchi, the para teachers had protested with black flags and black clothes, following which the BJP is prohibiting black clothes from being worn at any government programs or Party meetings. If anyone comes wearing black clothes, they are taking off those clothes. Strongly condemning this double-faced and shameful act by the Chief Minister and the BJP, he said that the BJP is everywhere attacking people’s democratic rights and dignity. He said that women will definitely teach this anti-women government a sound lesson in the coming elections.
