THE morale of feudal-criminals is incessantly on the rise under the JD(U)-BJP regime and they have become totally fearless. The most recent example of this is the rape and killing of a mahadalit girl child on 16 January by feudal criminals at Badaura (Ramgarh) in Kaimur District.
Angered by the incident, the villagers surrounded and burnt the Ramgarh Thana. CPI(ML) MLA Sudama Prasad, Kaimur District Secretary Vijay Singh Yadav and other ML leaders visited the village and apprised themselves of the facts of the case. Villagers and family members told them that the dead girl’s father works outside as a truck driver. He had sent Rs 4,000 into the bank account for his daughter. The bank, located in the village, was run by Manoj Singh of the Rajput caste. For one month, the girl kept coming to the bank for the money, but the Manager did not give it to her. In the end, the girl complained about this to the Ramgarh Thana. After registration of the FIR, the police merely questioned the Manager. After that, the Manager called the girl and her mother and agreed to give them the money on condition that they withdraw the case. Mother and daughter agreed. The Thana is at a distance of about 8 km from there. The mother said that she would accompany her daughter, as she feared something might happen to the girl, but the Manager gave a commitment that nothing would happen, and the mother agreed. He took the girl in his vehicle and proceeded towards the Thana.
The villagers say that after the girl took back the complaint, the Manager abused her using caste words, beat her, and sexually assaulted her. At 4 pm when he started taking the girl to Mohaniya Road instead of back to the village, she phoned her father. After that, her phone got switched off. She was raped and thrown onto the Mohaniya Road railway line. She was alive till that time. Her family members got information through GRP, arrived there, and took her to hospital in Banaras for treatment where she died. On 20 January the CPI(ML) organized a protest march in Bhabhua with demands for the removal of the Ramgarh Thana in-charge, immediate arrest of the criminal Manoj Singh, and a government job and adequate compensation for the family of the dead victim.
