A student-youth convention was organized under the ‘Young India Adhikar March’ banner on 21 January 2019 at the Lohiya Mazdoor Bhavan in Narhi (Hazratganj) which was attended by students and youth from Universities and educational institutions of the capital as well as from rural areas.
Addressing the convention, main speaker RYA State President Ateeq Ahmed said that the Modi government had promised 2 crore jobs for the youth in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, but today 24 lakh posts are lying vacant. Instead of filling these vacant posts, the Modi government is adopting a policy to end job opportunities by steadily decreasing the number of posts. In order to hide its failures, the Modi government is diverting attention by fueling communal passions. The Yogi government in the State is also cheating the youth. Recently, appointments to 69500 Assistant Teacher posts were scam-ridden. Scams are being perpetrated regularly in the name of exams and appointments and Yogi is adopting the policy of declaring young people ineligible, in order to suppress any talk of jobs and employment.
Addressing the convention, other speakers appealed to students and youth to mobilize and organize themselves under the ‘Young India Adhikar March’ banner against the government which has failed miserably in providing them with education and employment. They said that they would campaign across Lucknow to expose the anti-student/youth policies of the Modi government and then march to Delhi on 7 February 2019.
