A Mahadharna was organized on 7 January 2019 in front of the Samastipur police HQ on the following demands: high level enquiry into Ujiyarpur Thana chief Manoj Kumar Singh’s nexus with ration and liquor mafia; fair and unbiased enquiry into false cases against ML activists at Ujiayarpur Thana (Case No. 92/017, 234/017, and 237/017); justice for the innocent ML activists.
Addressing the large number of activists gathered at the government Bus Terminus, CPI(ML) MLA Satyadev Ram said that a high level enquiry should be held into the nexus between the Ujiyarpur Thana chief and the ration and liquor mafia. He said that cases have been registered against 33 activists including ML leader and Ujiyarpur Block Secretary Phulbabu Singh and Mahavir Poddar in the name of ‘road block’ in order to stifle the voice of the poor. He stressed that under any circumstances the fight for justice and the rights of the poor would be carried on in every village in Samastipur.
CPI(ML) PB member Dhirendra Jha said that CPI(ML) is the name of the Party which fights for the rights of the poor, for justice, and against corruption. This is a Party which is struggling against the government on all fronts. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U)-BJP government has made life direly difficult for the poor in Bihar. Spiraling prices and unemployment have broken their backs, while the Chief Minister sings the tune of ‘good governance’. The liquor trade is flourishing with the collusion of Thana chiefs and liquor mafia despite the official liquor ban. The people of Bihar will not tolerate this under any conditions.
Presiding over the Mahadharna, District Secretary Umesh Kumar said that all false cases against ML activists should be withdrawn forthwith, and speedy action should be taken against the accused in Kalyanpur 264/018, Vibhutipur 9/017, and Mahila Thana 35/018 cases.
