ON 26 December CPI (ML) took out a ‘Jan Aakrosh’ (people’s anger) march in Garwha from Rank Mod, Indira Gandhi Park and staged a protest demonstration at the district collectorate. The protestors raised slogans in support of the para teachers and against the state government. CPI (ML) leaders addressing the dharna said that the legitimate struggle of the para teachers have been continuing since 50 days. The entire primary education structure in the state is in dismal state and the future of the children is in danger. In nearly ten thousand schools of the state the study work is disrupted and lakhs of children are playing in the school. The Raghuvar government of Jharkhand is being autocratic and instead of accepting the demands of the para teachers, they are responding to teachers by use of lathis, brutally beating them to death and filing cases on them. Several para teachers have lost life and the Raghuvar government is responsible for this. Today, most scheme workers are being made to work as bonded labours- ASHA workers, mid-day meal workers, health, water and other helpers are being made mockery of. In the state several other contract workers besides para teachers are waging struggles and instead of sensitively responding to their concerns the state government is unleashing further atrocities on them. They supported the demands of para teachers which include- equal pay for equal work, withdrawal of false cases against them, paying them wages as being given in Chhattisgarh, making all contract and honorarium workers- permanent, ensuring a permanent job for the family members of para teachers who lost their lives and compensation of Rs.25 lakh for their families. They demanded that these demands be accepted and also that proper teaching be restored and ensured in all schools.
