Landless peasants and rural workers held a protest march in Mohiuddin Nagar in Darbhanga on Dec 20 to demand for homestead land as promised by the Bihar govt. Most of the protesters were displaced by the flooding of river embankments. They handed over a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to the Magistrate. CPI(ML) district secretary Vaidynath Yadav criticized Nitish govt. for betraying from its promise of giving 5 decimal land to each landless and said that the government now doing the opposite by evicting the landless who in distress have rehabilitated themselves on public lands, while the vast tracts of land continue to be occupied by dominant persons and mafia with full impunity.
