THE All India Kisan Mahasabha organized a meeting at Ghaghri (Bagodar) on 27 November 2018 against the deliberate forcible acquisition of peasants’ lands by the NHAI engaged in the construction of the GT 6-Lane Highway and GAIL engaged in laying the gas pipe lines.
Addressing the meeting, Kisan Mahasabha State Secretary Puran Mahto said that the NHAI is giving compensation for acquired land by falsely showing residential land as agricultural land, which has affected farmers greatly. The extent of the willfulness of the authorities is such that 16 meters of land are being forcibly captured instead of the 9 meters of acquired land. No compensation is being paid for the gair-majarua land which has been under dakhal-kaabij for many years. On the other hand, GAIL is shying away from paying 100% compensation and compensation on the principle of ‘one Block, one rate’.
Present at the meeting were Abdul Jaleel, Nageshwar Mahto, Jagdish Prasad, Irshad Ansari, Mustaq Ansari, Charak Miyan, Ghola Mahto, Dr Faljeet Mahto, and dozens of affected farmers.
