ON September 2, 34th martyrdom anniversary of Coms Chandrakumar and Chandrasekar, a district study class was held at Gadilem, organised by CPIML Vizhupuram district committee. The ‘Resolution on National Situation’ adopted in the Party’s 10th Congress was read in the study class. Forty six activists and cadres, branch secretaries, local committee members, district committee members, participated in the class from branch level to district level.
Followed by this day long study class, in the evening at Tirunavalur a pledge-taking mass meeting was held with hundreds of local people. The meeting saluted the martyrdom of Comrades Chandrasekar and Chandrakumar who were killed while organizing the rural poor and agricultural labourers, in the erstwhile composite Tanjore district against the feudal-police nexus. The meeting called for defeating the fascist Modi Raj. The meeting also called for making successful the massive 10 lac signature campaign against 8-lane Salem-Chennai corridor which is to destroy lives and livelihood of lakhs of peasantry and ecological balance. People who participated in the meeting supported the call by signing the memorandum to give up the proposed 8-lane corridor. The meeting also expressed its fighting solidarity to the striking Pricol workers of Coimbatore. Comrade Balasundaram, AIARLA state president was the main speaker. Comrade Venkatesan, district secretary of Vizhupuram, Comrade Dhanavel, district secretary of Cuddalore, Comrade Suseela, AIPWA district leader, Comrade Gajendran, district secretary of AIARLA and others spoke at the meeting which was presided over by Com Kaliyamoorthy, one of the state secretaries of AIARLA.
