WITH preparations for the coming Lok Sabha elections in mind, a convention was organized at the Jamua Gandhi Maidan on 9 September 2018 to mobilize activists in the Koderma Lok Sabha constituency. More than 1,000 activists attended the convention from all 6 Assembly constituencies which fall in the Koderma Lok Sabha constituency—Koderma, Barkattha, Bagodar, Rajdhanwar, Jamua and Gandeya. The activists’ convention was presided over by CPI(ML) Politburo member and Koderma Lok Sabha constituency in-charge Comrade Manoj Bhakt. Present on the dais were former MLA Com. Vinod Singh, Rajdhanwar MLA Com. Rajkumar Yadav, members of the District Council members and other leaders.
Addressing the convention, main speaker CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the government is today colluding with forces bent on destroying democracy in the country. Copies of the Constitution are burnt on Independence Day eve but the government remains silent. Student leader Umar Khalid is shot at a stone’s throw away from Parliament by assailants who boast of it on video, but no action is taken against them. He reiterated the resolution passed by the 10th Party Congress to put everything into the fight against fascism. He reminded the activists that Koderma had fought bravely in 2014 and despite the Modi wave had come very close to winning the Koderma Lok Sabha seat. He expressed full confidence that in 2019 the people had seen the real anti-poor and anti-people face of the BJP and the CPI(ML) would defeat the BJP and win the Koderma Lok Sabha seat. He said that the people would give a befitting reply to the government which arrested human rights activists on false charges whereas they allowed scamsters to run away to foreign countries after having looted our banks to the tune of lakhs of crores. He reminded the activists that we must fight together to fulfill the dreams of Mahendra Singh. He said that the Party would mobilize strength in other areas of Jharkhand also just as it has done in Koderma, and would ensure that 2019 sees the end of Modi’s tyranny and brings back people’s rule.
