Aligarh, 19 June 2024
The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) has called for an impartial and high-level investigation into the death of Aurangzeb, a young man from a minority community, due to mob lynching in Aligarh on Tuesday night. This incident, occurring under Chief Minister Yogi's administration and following the Lok Sabha elections, has raised significant concerns.
State Secretary Sudhakar Yadav released a statement on Wednesday, highlighting the increase in attacks on minorities and Dalits in the state since the Lok Sabha elections. The family of the deceased, residing in the Gandhi Park area of Mamu Bhanja locality, alleges that the mob lynching occurred because he was Muslim. Given the current tense situation in Aligarh, the administration needs to be vigilant and ensure the safety of minorities.
Previously, another incident in Aligarh's Akbarabad police station area involved the murder of a 22-year-old Dalit youth. Reports indicate that the Dalit youth's family has been protesting at Ambedkar Park near Ghantaghar intersection for justice for the past ten days.
CPIML leader Sudhakar Yadav stated that due to the protection provided to dominant groups under Yogi's government, incidents of murder and injustice against the weaker sections are occurring. He called this a failure of the Yogi government and demanded that the perpetrators of both incidents be severely punished and justice be provided to the deceased. He also called for adequate compensation for the families.
