Veteran CPIML leader from Champaran and ex-member of district committee, Com. Kedar Prasad breathed his last at Jitpur, Nepal. He was 74 and suffered a heart attack. He was associated with the party structure since 1980-81. He played a leading role in organizing the rural poor and labourers in undivided Champaran. He worked as a whole-time activist. During 1983-84, when anarchist elements were active to create division within the party, Com. Kedar championed the official party line among the masses. When the party moved towards formation of mass organizations and a mass line, he strove hard to form Bihar Pradesh Kisan Sabha and IPF. Since 1990, he was continuously involved in party work in West Champaran. He was adept at integrating with the masses and was involved in studying social developments.

For the past 10 years, because of difficulty in walking, he was staying with his relative in Jitpur town of Nepal. Moreover, he had to shift because of a large number of cases lodged against him for his political struggles. He had recently attended the condolence meeting of Com. Phooldev Kushwaha on 29 April. Nobody imagined that he would leave us so soon. We will continue to seek inspiration from him.

Long live Com. Kedar Prasad!
