Reacting sharply to the total exclusion of the discussion on the state Health Department from the monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly starting from 21 June, CPIML legislative party leader Mahboob Alam said that it clearly shows the extremely negligent attitude of the government towards an important issue like health. The ravages of Corona are not yet finished, and the pandemic is still on, Covid infection is once again on the increase and people are again living in fear. The issue of health should have been at the top on the agenda but the government has totally excluded it.
He pointed out that the CPIML has submitted a ground report on the ramshackle state of health in Bihar; more than half the posts of doctors, nurses and health workers are lying vacant, ASHA workers are in dire straits, and the common people are dying for lack of treatment, but the government is least bothered. But as the health department is nowhere in the agenda for the monsoon session, no questions can be asked in the Assembly and the government cannot be made answerable for anything. Thus, the government is running away from its responsibilities.
The CPIML legislative party called this a conspiracy by the government and demanded that the health department should be included in the agenda and the session should have a minimum of 10 working days so that there can be concrete discussion on people's issues.
