Suppress Peoples Voices

CPI(ML) Mithilanchal in-charge Dhirendra Jha strongly condemned the police oppression of protesters during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra in Samastipur district in Bihar on January 13. He called on the government to abandon its repressive policies and respect the demands of students-youth.

While the Chief Minister was holding a meeting with officials inside the district headquarters, activists from AISA, RYA and other student organisations gathered outside to demand a high-level investigation into the recent BPSC Preliminary Examination scam. The protesters chanted slogan "Chief Minister Go Back" and voiced their demands.

The BPSC exam scam, along with the subsequent brutal crackdown, has sparked outrage among youth across the state. Instead of addressing their legitimate grievances of the candidates, the government responded with force.

Dhirendra Jha stated that CPI(ML) stands firmly in support of demands of the of young people against exam irregularities and crumbling education sector in the state. He criticised the government for attempting to silence youth demanding justice through repression, legal cases, and arrests, warning that such measures would only strengthen the resistance. Over recent days, several AISA leaders have been detained in Gopalganj, Chhapra, Siwan, and Muzaffarpur as protests against BPSC exam irregularities continues to intensify.

In a statement, AISA and RYA warned that if the police repression continues, the Chief Minister's Pragati Yatra will face intensified resistance during its third phase, including district-level demonstrations and protests.
