AIRLA, TN

THE 6th state conference of the Tamilnadu AIARLA was held on December 25-26 at Myladuthurai. On 25 December, the planned rally was denied permission by the state. As a mark of protest activists converged in different points of the town and walked to the meeting place. The mass meeting was held in Com TKSJ square and Comrade Ammaiappan stage, where hundreds of red flags and placards and festoons turned the area red. The meeting was presided by Comrade N Gunasegaran, vice-president of AIARLA.
The meeting started by observing 2 minutes silence as a mark of homage to the Venmani martyrs, and respects to departed leaders of people’s struggles, condolences for victims of the demonitisation disaster and various natural calamities including Cyclone Gaja. CPIML state secretary com S. Kumarasamy, AIARLA state president Balasundaram and National President Sri Ram Chowdhry spoke in the mass meeting. CPIML CC members, AIARLA state leaders were present. Several resolutions were passed presented by Com Ilangovan. The key resolution called for the grand success of January 8-9 All India Strike as a step towards ousting the Modi and Palanichamy calamities.

On December 26, the conference began by flag hoisting in front of Comrade Bakshi hall. The AIARLA flag was unfurled by T Kannaian, state vice president of AIARLA. A seven member presidium chaired by Com Janakiraman and assisted by Comrades Rajasankar and Uyiroviyan conducted the Conference. Comrade S. Kumarasamy, state secretary inaugurated the conference.
A cross section of the delegates presented their opinions over the report placed by the outgoing AIARLA state committee and shared their experiences of movements.

CPI(ML) PBM Comrade V Shankar, CCMs Bhuvana, Balasubramanian (Puducherry CPIML state secretary), Clifton D’ Rozario (Karnataka CPIML state secretary), and AICCTU State president A S Kumar greeted the conference. Many RYA, AICCTU and Pricol leaders were present.

A 53 member state council was elected in turn it elected Comrade Balasundaram, N. Gunasegaran as president and general secretary, respectively. Greeting the new council and leadership Com Sri Ram Chowdhry the nation's voice demands, not a temple for Ram but land for the millions of poor landless labourers. AIARLA gives voice to this demand and will make sure fascism is defeated and Modi ousted from the seat power. He also reminded landlords who wanted to finish the Red Flag in Venmani and Bathani themselves got finished off.
