IT is shameful and condemnable that the BJP and RSS are seeking to attack the Left Government for upholding the Supreme Court verdict lifting the ban on the entry of little girls and women between the ages of 10-50 into the Sabarimala temple. A BJP leader - actor Kollam Thulasi - has declared that women entering Sabarimala will be “torn into two pieces.” Women journalists and students covering the Sabarimala issue are being violently attacked and prevented from even approaching the vicinity of the temple. The Kerala police is failing to act against the violent mobs.

THE CPI(ML) condemns the repression unleashed by the police on farmers who were attempting to march to the Gandhi Samadhi to confront the Modi Government over its betrayal of promises to farmers. From Mandsaur to Delhi, farmers demanding their due are being met with lathis and bullets, loot and lies.

The CPI(ML) stands in solidarity with the protesting farmers all across India.

THE recent sting operation by India Today adds to the growing body of damning evidence against the terrorist outfit Sanatan Sanstha, already implicated in several bomb blasts and assassinations of journalists, academics and activists.

ALL India Kisan Mahasabha (AIKM) has strongly condemned the repression let loose on peaceful protesting farmers at Gazipur border in Delhi. Modi government which protects and encourages mob lynchers and fascist goons, is not able to face peaceful farmers who are forced to commit suicides burdened with debt and without proper remuneration of their produce. The farmers have been demanding remunerative prices according to C-2 plus 50% formula, guarantee of procurement of produce at this price, payment of dues to sugarcane farmers, to withdraw hike in electricity tarrifs and other demands.

CPI(ML) welcomes the Delhi HC order setting aside civil liberties activist Gautam Navlakha's transit remand and releasing him from house arrest. The Delhi HC order, like the dissenting Supreme Court verdict, holds that the arrest was illegal and in violation of the Constitution, and that the transit remand was approved by a magistrate without application of mind.

THE Supreme Court, in a majority verdict on September 26, 2018, upheld the Constitutional validity of Aadhaar and the requirement of Aadhaar linkage for beneficiaries of welfare schemes. The verdict came a year after 11-year old Santoshi of Jharkhand died of starvation, crying for rice, after her ration card failed to be linked with Aadhaar.

A majority verdict of Supreme Court by the CJI Dipak Mishra and Justice Khanwilkar has refused to order an SIT investigation into the arrest of five human rights activists by the Maharashtra police in the Bhima Koregaon case. Instead it has directed the Pune Police to go ahead with its investigation and has ordered four more weeks of house arrest for the activists, during which they may approach lower courts for bail.
