The battle in its second phase entered its 273rd day under the banner of Yubo-Chhatro Adhikar Mancha (Platform for Student-Youth Rights) and is going on uninterrupted at the Gandhi Statue near the Kolkata Maidan despite heavy police restrictions and occasional repression.

Government Should Shed its Insensitive Attitude towards GNM Students: Mahboob Alam

PMCH Nursing students, agitating for more than one month against their hostel being shifted from PMCH to Rajapakar, have now been sitting on a hunger strike for the last 5 days at their dharna site in Gardanibagh. The women students do not want to go to Rajapakar as it is a remote area and they are fearful for their security.

CPIML General Secretary Visits Family of 5 Debt-Ridden Sucide Victims in Samastipur

CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on 6 June 2022 visited Mau village in Vidyapatinagar, Samastipur District where 5 members of a single family (2 minor children, an aged mother, head of the family and his wife) allegedly committed suicide in a horrifying incident on 5 June. He met relatives of the victims, villagers, local journalists and party activists to apprise himself of the facts of the tragedy.

Punish the Guilty in the Mahenur Abduction, Gangrape and Murder Case: Mahboob Alam

Leader of CPIML legislative party in Bihar Mahboob Alam has demanded speedy trial and strict punishment for the guilty persons in the Manehur (Pastiya village, Naya Tola, Azamnagar Thana) abduction, gangrape and murder case. He met the DG Bihar Police on 4 June 2022 in this connection and apprised him of all the details.

AIKM Observe Minimum Support Price (MSP) Demand Day

On the anniversary of the Mandsaur massacre of farmers by the police on 6 June the All India Kisan Mahasabha (AIKM) observed an MSP Demand Day. Six peacefully protesting farmers were killed in Mandsaur on 6 June 2017 for demanding debt relief through MSP of 1.5 times crop input costs according to Swaminathan Commission recommendations, in the BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh. All India Kisan Mahasabha organised protests at district, block and local levels. A charter of demands was also sent to the Prime Minister of India through these protests.

Protest Against Price Rise

Left parties CPIML, CPI and CPIM organized a joint protest at the culmination of the nationwide anti-inflation and anti-unemployment campaign between 25 May and 31 May at Civic Centre Chowk in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. The protest meeting was addressed by CPI leader Vinod Kumar Soni, CPIM leaders Vakil Bharti, Shanta Kumar, DVS Reddy and CPIML leader Ashok Miri. The Left leaders asked why the present leaders who had protested against gas cylinder price rise when they were in the Opposition are silent now that the price of a cylinder has crossed Rs 1000.
