MNREGA Workers in UP’s Jaunpur district submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate through a protest dharna on 19 July demanding strict action against local supply inspector. The local PDS dealer in Lakhanipur is not giving ration to the PDS card holder for many months while he is regularly taking thumb impressions as a mark of receipt of allotted foodgrains. When a complaint was made with the supply inspector, he too misbehaved and threatened the complainant Rambahadur Yadav.

When Prime Minister Modi came to Patna the CPIML legislative group raised the demand for Patna Junction to be named after Bhagat Singh's comrade Batukeshwar Dutt.

In Yogi’s Police State: Death Threats to CPIML Leader by Thana Chief Condemnable

The CPIML Uttar Pradesh unit has strongly condemned as tyrannical the death threat given by the Hargaon (Sitapur) Thana chief to the party state committee leader after a peaceful dharna protest organized by the party on 5 July 2022 in front of the Hargaon Thana.

State Secretary Sudhakar Yadav said that the Yogi government has imposed an undeclared ban on common democratic activities, making even dharna protests difficult to hold. The police have become autocratic due to the free license given to them by Yogi regime.

Workers Protest against Delay in Minimum Wage Review

Hundreds of workers in the Venkosh Company in Patna which manufactures hydraulic jacks and is situated in the Pataliputra Industrial Area held a protest on 23 June at the Labour Office (Niyojan Bhavan) on Bailey Road.

Protest in Palamu against Increasing Attacks on Dalits

There has been a sharp rise in attacks against dalit communities (SC/ST) in Palamu. On 29 May 2022 members of the Bhuiyan caste in Baraon, Chainpur were beaten brutally and subjected to attempted murder. On 9 May the home of Lallan Paswan was razed to the ground in broad daylight by a bulldozer in Dumri village, Naudiha Block. On 20 March members of the dalit community in Batsara village, Padwa Block were beaten badly and a Bolero vehicle parked in their home vandalized.

Rajasthan Loktantrik Morcha Rally against Agnipath Scheme

Large numbers of workers, farmers, women, students and youth held a rally at the call of the Rajasthan Loktantrik Morcha on 22 June 2022 in Udaipur with a 17-point charter of demands. The rally resounded with slogans: scrap the Agnipath scheme; end Bulldozer Raj; arrest Nupur Sharma and Navin Jindal; give land pattas to adivasis and other poor settled on land; conduct census on the basis of population. The rally was led by CPIML State Secretary Mahendra Chaudhury, CPIM State Secretary Amra Ram, CPI State Secretary Narendra Acharya and JDS President Arjun Detha.
