Many Died in Cholera Outbreak in Rayagada

The cholera outbreak in Kashipur, an industrial block in the tribal majority district of Rayagada, Odisha has taken the life of at least 13 people so far and 140 people have been hospitalized by waterborne disease. The Cholera is an acute diarrheal illness caused by infection of the intestine with vibrio cholera bacteria when people get sick by taking unhygienic food or contaminated water. According to Chief District Medical Officer of Rayagada the disease has spread from the contaminated water.

Charu Mazumdar Martyrdom Day: Pledge Day Observed

July 28, 2022 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the martyrdom of Comrade Charu Mazumdar, the great architect of the Naxalbari peasant upsurge and the founding General Secretary of the CPI(ML). His martyrdom anniversary was commemorated at all places with paying tributes to the martyrs and by taking pledge to strengthen and equip CPIML in all respects to play its due role in today’s challenging situation to fulfil the dreams of the martyrs.

Agricultural Workers Campaign for Employment, Wages and Social Security

1st August was observed as National Protest Day across the country in response to the call given by the National Front of Agrarian and Rural Workers organizations. Protest programs were organized at District and Block HQs in many states. Various rural workers’ organisations including AIARLA held protests which were attended by lakhs of agrarian workers.

'Build Canal, Save District' Conference in Buhana, Rajasthan

A conference to bring a canal and save the District was organized by the All India Kisan Mahasabha in front of the Buhana Tehsil on 24 July 2022. Addressing the conference, AIKM National Vice President Phulchand Dhewa said that after the historic farmers' movement the need of the hour is for another big movement for guarantee of MSP and a canal to bring Yamuna water to the District.

Helang Valley, Uttarakhand: Administration Agrees to Stop Illegal Dumping in Forest Land

Under pressure of the agitation against the Helang incident, where women taking fodder from the common village land were stopped and insulted by the police and administration, now the Chamoli administration and police finally visited the victim Mandodari Devi's house to apprise her of their ‘intention’ of preventing anymore dumping waste soil by the company’s contractors.

Uttarakhand: Harela Photo Session and Persecution of Ghasiarias

The Harela festival was celebrated in Uttarakhand on 15 July 2022. This is a festival associated with nature and the environment. Social media was full of tree planting across the state and talk of environmental protection. The Chief Minister, his Ministers and officials were all planting trees and advising people on environmental protection. Persons in high places were saying that we should protect nature, nurture trees, etc etc. Three days in the year are fixed as Environment Day, Himalaya Day and Harela, for making such statements.
