Comrade Nagbhushan Remembered

LEGENDARY revolutionary leader comrade Nagbhushan Patnaik was remembered on his 21st memorial day on 9 October. Tributes were paid by comrades to him at various places. He epitomized the invincible spirit of Naxalbari and the revolution and became a living legend throughout decades of his later life. He was incarcerated in jail and awarded death sentence by the reactionary regime. The campaign for his release became a rallying point for the post-Emergency battle for restoration of democracy.

10th Memorial Day of Comrade Ibnul Hasan Basru

THE 10th anniversary of Comrade Ibnul Hasan Basru was observed on 29 September 2019 at the Jamua Party office. The program started with garlanding of a life-size statue of Basru Ji and two minutes’ silence. Addressing the meeting, Block Secretary Vijay Pandey said that Basru Ji had led a strong people’s movement by the Left against feudal forces in Jamua when it was part of undivided Bihar due to which the Left won the Jamua Assembly seat.

Adieu Comrade Hari Singh

COMRADE Hari Singh, beloved leader of the working class in Kanpur passed away on 25 Sep. after a prolonged illness. He was 80. He was the UP State Committee member of CPIML and President of UP AICCTU. A militant and extremely popular workers’ leader in Kanpur and UP, and a fierce orator, he was revered even by his opponents for his commitment and hard work. During his political career which stretched for more than five decades he hadn’t missed even a single struggle in Kanpur and was always seen in the frontline of the movement.

A Shaheed Mela was organized on 16 September 2019 at Siwan to honour the memory of the many martyrs who gave their lives in the struggle to bring freedom to the poor and oppressed sections of society, and to pledge to carry forward their work and fulfill their dreams.

She was a bright student. She was a post graduate in economics from Nagpur University. She also studied 2 years of Law. She was a poet and a painter. She was the best cadet in NCC battalion. She was a mountaineer and paratrooper.

Dedicated first generation leader of the Naxalbari movement in Bhagalpur District and CPIML Kharik Block Committee member Comrade Lakhanlal Mandal (65 years) passed away at his home in Lokmanpur (Kharik) at about 7 pm on 15 August 2019. He was active in the Party from the latter half of the 70s till his demise. Born in a poor farmer’s family Comrade Lakhanlal played a leading role in the anti-feudal struggles and land rights struggles in the Kadva region.

A towering icon of Jharkhand coal workers, he was widely respected for his simplicity and honesty. He cheerfully lived a penurious existence till the last, completely dependent on the love and care which Dhanbad’s working people showered on him.
