AISA Panel Wins in Samastipur College Union Elections

THE All India Students Association (AISA) won a sweeping victory in the student union elections held at Uma Pandey College, Pusa Bihar. The victorious AISA candidates are Kundan Kumar (President), Manish Kumar (Vice President), Sudhanshu Kumar (General Secretary), Vikas Kumar Singh (Joint Secretary), Deepak Kumar (Treasurer), and Richa Kumari and Pankaj Kumar (College Representatives).

JNU Students Resist Massive Fee Hike and Regressive Hostel Manual

JNU students have been protesting in thousands since the first of November 2019, against new hostel manual with a 70% hike in hostel fees, and patriarchal dress codes and curfews. The JNU VC, instead of withdrawing the manual and speaking to protesting students, called in the CRPF on the campus. When the JNU Convocation was held off the campus, at the AICTE Convention Hall, with the HRD Minister as the guest of honour, JNU students marched in thousands to demand that the HRD Minister speak to them.

9th National Conference of AISA Held in Hyderabad

The Conference Resolved to Intensify Students Movement against All Attempts to Sell Out Education and Communal Assaults on Constitutional Rights of Indian People!

THE 9th national conference of All India Students' Association (AISA) has been held successfully in Hyderabad on 9th& 10th November, 2019. The conference was significant on several accounts. Firstly, this is the first time that AISA had its national conference in Hyderabad reflecting the organisation's expansion in the city of Telengana.

Indefinite Hunger Strike by AISA at Daltonganj

ALL India Students Association (AISA) began an indefinite hunger strike from 29 October 2019 in front of the Daltonganj Collectorate in Palamu District to demand extension of the post-Matric scholarship application date. It should be remembered that earlier also AISA had met officials of the Welfare Department on this issue. A march had been organized from the University to the Collectorate on 3 October. At that time the date for applications had been extended by a few days.

Tamilnadu Student Activists Meet at Trichy

STUDENTS of various colleges from 8 districts of Tamilnadu met at Trichy on 25th October, 2019 to plan the campaign for the forthcoming AISA conference at Hyderabad. AISA's General secretary Sandeep Saurav addressed the students. He spoke about AISA's legacy of struggles against fee hike, cut in funds, cut in seats, cut in scholarships, privatisation and saffronisation of education, draft new education policy, non implementation of reservation policy etc and for affordable, public funded education.

First Andhra Pradesh Conference of AISA at Kadapa

ON 21 October, the first Andhra Pradesh conference of AISA was held in Kadapa town. A rally and public meeting held with a participation of 500 students was followed by a delegates session in which 85 delegates participated. A state committee of 21 members was elected by the conference.

AISA National President Sandeep Saurav attended and addressed the Conference, saluting the inspiring memory of Rohit Vemula and the ongoing student struggles against the fascist and corporate assault on education.

AISA Holds First Jharkhand Conference

AISA’s first Jharkhand State Conference was held on 20 October at Ranchi. It was inaugurated by CPIML CC Member Comrade Shubhendu Sen. Comrade Sabir, the Bihar AISA Secretary addressed the occasion as a special guest.

The conference pledged to resist the New Economic Policy being imposed by the Modi Government to privatise and destroy education in India. It highlighted the sorry state of education in Jharkhand.

AISA Wins HNB Garhwal University Representative (UR) Post

AISA candidate Ankit Uchholi won the post of University Representative (UR) in the HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar (Garhwal) Student Union elections. Last year Ankit Uchholi had been elected Vice President and discharged the responsibilities of President after the Presidential election was invalidated. During that period students’ issues were consistently raised under the leadership of Ankit Uchholi and AISA National Executive member Atul Sati, for which he was slapped with false cases as well as a case in the High Court against him.
