Punish Perpetrators of Udaipur Killing, Maintain Peace

The killing of Kanhaiyalal Teli over a social post is a heinous and horrific crime. The perpetrators of this mindless violence have been arrested, and justice must be done. The government of Rajasthan, all political parties, and the civil society must help ensure social harmony and peace in Rajasthan and all over India. CPIML appeals to all to maintain calm, and rebuff any attempts to whip up violence of any kind.

Condemn Politically Vindictive Arrests of Teesta Setalvad and Others

During the targeted violence against Muslims in Gujarat 2002 the former MP Ehsan Jafri called the then CM Narendra Modi as well as other persons in authority for help when his home was surrounded by a murderous Hindu-supremacist mob. No help arrived - and Ehsan Jafri was tortured and burnt alive. His wife Zakia Jafri has since then courageously pursued the quest for truth and justice in the courts for the past two decades, seeking to establish the complicity of the 2002 Gujarat Government headed by the CM Modi in the targeted violence.

Why is Health not on the Agenda for Bihar Assembly Session?

Reacting sharply to the total exclusion of the discussion on the state Health Department from the monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly starting from 21 June, CPIML legislative party leader Mahboob Alam said that it clearly shows the extremely negligent attitude of the government towards an important issue like health. The ravages of Corona are not yet finished, and the pandemic is still on, Covid infection is once again on the increase and people are again living in fear.

Mass Suicide Of A Family In Samastipur Is A Debt-Driven Massacre

- Dipankar Bhattacharya

Caste massacres, communal carnages, state-executed killings, mob lynchings, political murders, illicit liquor deaths, even death of children due to toxic meals served in schools - I have seen them all over my nearly four decades of close association with Bihar. The collective death of five members of a poor household in Mou panchayat of Vidyapatinagar of Samastipur district on 5 June morning added a new category of debt-driven massacre.

Govt Must Not Evict Poor From Their Homes: Beguserai

CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal said the government must have heeded much earlier to the voices of the poor in Beguserai protesting on the issue of housing. He said that about 150 families from Mahadalit Musahar and other poor families have been settled for a long time by the side of the Beguserai railway line. The Railways have issued a notice to all these poor people to vacate that place. This has resulted in a serious housing problem for them.

Refer The Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill 2022 To A Parliamentary Select Committee

We are deeply concerned at the introduction of the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill, 2022 in the Lok Sabha without any public consultation.

This Bill is aimed at drastically expanding the scope of the State’s powers to collect, store, and utilise the body-related data of citizens. If passed as it is now, it will allow the government agencies to violate citizens’ privacy indiscriminately, and to use technologies like facial recognition to surveil, police, and profile neighbourhoods and protest gatherings and streets.
