The CPIML legislative party leader Mahboob Alam condemned the Bihar government's attempt to whitewash the heart-wrenching death of 6 workers in the Khagaria school compound wall collapse by calling it an accident. He said that this is not an accident but the result of sheer negligence. The Chief Minister cannot hush up the truth by giving Rs 4 lakhs compensation to the victims' families. He demanded a full enquiry by a committee constituted by the Assembly.

This letter was sent by registered post to Joshimath Thana because the Thana in-charge was away in disaster-affected Tapovan and the Deputy Inspector who was present in the Thana expressed his inability to accept this letter in the absence of the in-charge.

On 10th February the Mongolpuri of Delhi saw the unfortunate murder of Rinku Sharma, a resident of the area. The Delhi Police have arrested five persons- Zahid, Mehtab, Nasruddin, Islam, Tazuddin- in connection with the murder. The Delhi DCP of Outer Delhi has gone on record to say that there is no ‘communal link in the crime’ and that Rinku Sharma’s murder was a case triggered by a business rivalry.

Prominent writers, journalists and cultural personalities have issued an appeal to support secular, democratic and pro-people forces in the ongoing Bihar Assembly Elections. CPIML has complained to the State Election Commissioner against attempts to spoil the image of the Party and its Aurai Assembly candidate Aftab Alam through fake news propagated by ruling political parties and certain media organizations. A delegation comprising Politburo member Kavita Krishnan and Central Committee member Meena Tiwari met the State Election Commissioner (CEO) on 20 October on this issue and demanded strict action against this defamatory propaganda.

Varanasi Weavers on Indefinite Strike Against Power Tariff Hike

The weavers in Varanasi have gone on an indefinite strike in protest of unusually high power tariffs hike by the Yogi government for them. Nearly twenty-five thousand of weavers in this internationally renowned center of silk sarees have shut down their looms with the demand to withdraw the hike which is another blow on their livelihood after the inhuman lockdown.

Nine opposition parties of Bihar (three Left parties, CPI(ML)(Liberation), CPI(M), CPI, and six other opposition parties, RJD, LJD, RLSP, HAM, VIP & INC) today submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission to convey their concerns about the forthcoming Assembly elections.
