Comrade Ramashish Sah

Comrade Ramashish Sah, a veteran communist and senior leader of CPIML in Darbhanga district and former mukhiya of Madhopur Panchayat, passed away on March 27. Born on 5 August 1942 in a farmer family, he joined the communist movement at the spark of Telangana farmers in Mithilanchal. He, along with Bhogendra Jha, Abdul Salam, Vijaykant Thakur and others, raised the red flag after leaving his job as a teacher.

He was elected as the mukhiya of Madhopur Panchayat as a candidate of the Communist Party in 1978. Later, during the Naxalbari movement, he joined CPIML. He was revered in all streams of the communist movement. The unwavering dedication of Comrade Ramashish Sah and the work of CPIML had instilled fear in feudal-criminals in the region. He was later arrested in a politically motivated case and sent to jail.  Comrade Ramashish Shah was also in the forefront of farmers' struggle, and he was the Darbhanga District President of Bihar Pradesh Kisan Sabha for a long time.
