On the night of 15 December 2023, senior party leader of Uttarakhand, Comrade Kanti Prasad Chandola passed away at the age of 70. He was having trouble with lung infection from last few years.
Comrade Chandola was a member of the CPI(ML) State Committee in Uttarakhand and State Vice President of AICCTU. After joining the party, he took the responsibility of organizing the party work amongst teachers and employees.
Earlier he was associated with CPM and joined CPI(ML) about one and a half decade ago. Comrade Chandola, who came under the influence of the communist movement in the early age, was a teacher in the Higher Secondary Education Department in Uttarakhand. But even after retirement, he continued to play an active life time role in the organization and movement of teachers and employees.
In the early nineties, he was a lecturer of Mathematics at Chauras Inter College, Srinagar Garhwal. Those were the days of stormy struggles of the Uttarakhand statehood movement. There was never a day when there were no protests, demonstrations, rallies or clashes with the police. He was at the forefront of every protest and struggle. He also helped in supporting the financial needs of the youth joining the movement.
He used to write regularly in Karmachari Shikshak Darpan, the mouthpiece of Uttaranchal Mountain Employees Teachers Organisation. While being the Principal of Inter College in Tehri district, the way played a vital role in stopping a cheating racket run by local goons. After retirement around 2012, he started living in Dehradun. It was here that he breathed his last.
Red Salute to Comrade Kanti Prasad Chandola!
