Freedom75

CPIML General Secretary has written a letter to the President of India Ms Droupadi Murmu requesting her to arrange to provide tricolour to every family having ration card without cost.

Informing that the Government of India has announced a special campaign for hoisting the tricolour on every roof to mark the 75th anniversary of India's Independence, Comrade Dipankar wrote in the letter sent to Honourable President through e-mail that “we understand that flags will be available through the postal network at 25 rupees apiece. Given the acute crisis of livelihood and lack of income facing India's toiling millions, may we request you to provide flags free of cost to all ration card holding families through the Panchayati Raj institutions.

“We have also noted the amendment to the Flag Code of India to allow the use of machine-made and polyester flags.  We are afraid that this may well pave the way for large scale inflow of imported flags. We appeal to you to revoke this amendment and rely on the Khadi and Gramodyog network for production of hand-woven or hand-spun flags, especially as a mark of respectful recognition of the historic role of Khadi and the spirit of Swadeshi in inspiring India's freedom movement.”

The CPIML has been conducting a campaign ‘Freedom75’ throughout the seventy fifth year of Indian independence which will conclude in week long programmes being undertaken from 9th August to 15th August at all the branches with the slogan ‘Save Constitution, Save Democracy! Build India of Martyrs' Dreams!!’.
