Comrade Puneet Sahni, CPIML senior comrade from Eastern Champaran, passed away at 1 pm on 22 December 2021 during treatment at a hospital in Motihari. He was 72 years old and suffered from asthma. Comrade Puneet Sahni was born in Jhitkahia village, Motihari Block, Eastern Champaran District, in a lower middle class family. He was a farmer by profession.
He joined CPI in 1975 but after some time he left that party to join CPIML-SR Bhaiji group. However, on seeing the anarchist line of this group, he joined CPIML (Liberation) in 2000 and was strongly with the party till the end. He was a party state committee member from 2009 to 2012 and was one of the strong pillars of the party in Eastern Champaran. His death comes as an irreparable loss to the party.
On 4 December 2021 at the Battakh Miyan memorial meeting organized in Motihari, he was as enthusiastic and energetic as ever. Although he told comrades that he was not keeping well, but nobody could ever think of his sudden demise. The extremely cold weather aggravated his illness and snatched him away from us!
