AIPWA Foundation Day Observed
The 27th foundation day of the All India Progressive Women's Association was observed across the country on 12 February. Tributes were paid to women's movement and AIPWA organizational leaders in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and other states.
A seminar on the challenges faced by women in the current scenario was organized at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing the seminar AIPWA State Joint Secretary Meena Singh said that Uttar Pradesh has become the hub of violence against women where no woman is safe. Simmi Moses and Sunita Gaud respectively presided over and convened the seminar which was also addressed by Atique Ahmed, Neelam, Sangeeta, Umakant Vishwakarma, Ram Singh, Ashish Kumar and others.
AIPWA Foundation Day was also observed at Lucknow, Lakhimpur Kheeri, and Ghazipur border where State President Krishna Adhikari addressed the program.
In Bihar the first Block level conference at Bahadurpur in Darbhanga District was organized on this occasion. After 2 minutes' silence in honour of the martyred farmers, the conference was addressed by Chanmuni Devi, Sunita Devi, Rinki Devi, Domni Devi, Rekha Devi, Shanichari Devi, Rashida Khatoon and others. The leaders called upon women to fight against growing violence against women and actively support the struggle of SHGs and scheme workers, and to work for the success of the AIPWA district conference on 8 March.
AIPWA Foundation Day was also observed at many places in Gaya District. A symposium was organized in the capital addressed by AIPWA General Secretary Meena Tiwari, Shashi Yadav, Madhu, Vibha Gupta and others.
In Jharkhand AIPWA Foundation Day was observed in Giridih and many other places.
