A Shaheed Mela was organized on 16 September 2019 at Siwan to honour the memory of the many martyrs who gave their lives in the struggle to bring freedom to the poor and oppressed sections of society, and to pledge to carry forward their work and fulfill their dreams.
More than 150 leaders from the CPI(ML) have been martyred in the struggle to free Siwan from the clutches of feudal and criminal forces. The struggles under the red flag brought freedom within reach of dalits, the poor, and the common people. Today that freedom is once again under threat. Feudal-communal and criminal forces have gained confidence and are operating without fear. Their attacks have increased the crime graph is on the rise. Police atrocities have also increased.
It was pledged at the meeting held at the Shaheed Mela that protests against attacks by feudal-communal and criminal forces and against police atrocities would be strengthened, sharpened, and intensified.
