AISA and RYA activists organized a protest march in Beguserai on 5 September 2018 to observe the martyrdom day of Gauri Lankesh. The students and youth led by Feroze Sheikh and Ajay Kumar marched from the AISA District office at Ambedkar Chowk and passed through Katchhari Road, Nagar Thana, Nagarpalika to culminate in a meeting at the North Gate of the Collectorate. The march raised slogans such as ‘Long Live Gauri Lankesh’, ‘End Oppression of Human Rights Activists’, and ‘Down with Undeclared Emergency’. Addressing the meeting, AISA State Joint Secretary Watan Kumar said that Gauri Lankesh’s martyrdom will continue to inspire us to fight against the political protection being to criminals while those who speak of Constitutional rights are being attacked. AISA-RYA leaders demanded that the human rights activists, lawyers, cultural activists, Left activists and dalit activists arrested in the name of ‘urban naxal’ be released immediately and unconditionally. The meeting was also addressed by CPI (ML) City Secretary Rajesh Shrivastava, Zeeshan Ali, Salman Rain, Taj Hassan, Tiger Khan, Prashant Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Mohit Kumar and others.
