Comrade Meena Devi of Betadi, Charpokhri, Bhojpur passed away at 8 pm on 21 July 2018 at the Patna Medical College Hospital. She had been suffering from asthma and diabetes for a long period of time. As her condition showed no improvement at the Ara Hospital she was referred to PMCH. On arrival at PMCH she was diagnosed with a brain stroke.
Comrade Meena’s husband was a Chowkidar at the Charpokhri Thana and the village was dominated by feudal forces. Even her family was opposed to her working with the Party but she did not let this deter her at all. The Chavri and Bahuara struggles had had a great effect on the youth of those days. Immediately after her marriage in the 80s she joined the Party. The peasants’ movement was at its peak in the erstwhile Central Bihar. In 1981 with the formation of the Bihar State Kisan Sabha she became active in the Kisan Sabha. After that she never looked back and was an active participant in all the Bhojpur movements.
Fearless and spirited Comrade Meena Devi was a long standing member of the Charpokhri Block Committee and AIPWA District Committee. For the past few years she had been quite unwell but she participated unfailingly in all Party activities.
Comrade bid farewell to Comrade Meena Devi at her village Betadi on 22 July 2018. The entire Party is with her family in this hour of grief.
Red Salute to Comrade Meena, Long Live Comrade Meena!
