A four-member fact-finding team from the CPI(ML) visited Uttargaudi village in Lalganj (Rae Bareli) where a 11-year old girl was raped and murdered on 6 July. The team comprised of AIPWA State President Krishna Adhikari, CPI(ML) State Secretary member Ramesh Singh Sengar, and Afroz Alam of the Insaf Manch. The findings of the committee were put forward in a Press conference addressed by Krishna Adhikari.
She told the Press that the enquiry team met and spoke with the victim’s family members and other relatives and villagers present at the time of the incident. The enquiry team also inspected the spot where the child’s body was found; they also obtained other relevant information such as the post-mortem report and details regarding the identification of the perpetrators. She said that the police are beating around the bush instead of taking proper action. Three days have passed but the culprits have not yet been arrested. The AIPWA State President said that the enquiry team also found that the district administration has turned the victim family’s house into a police camp in an attempt to cover up this heinous rape and murder crime and suppress the people’s outrage. She pointed out that under the Modi-Yogi regime gang rapes and murders of women and minor girls are increasing by leaps and bounds. The rape and murder incidents in Mandsaur and Satna (Madhya Pradesh), Barabanki, Azamgarh, Banaras, Banda, Lucknow, and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh are only a few examples of many such crimes which are being committed of late with impunity. Referring to the Unnao case she said that as ruling Party MLAs and Ministers are themselves implicated in rape cases and the government is bent on shielding and protecting these criminals, it is clear that women and girls are most unsafe under BJP rule.
