On 2 May, AMU students were brutally attacked by Hindu Yuva Vahini, a forefront of RSS, formed by UP CM, Yogi Adityanath. Condemning the attack on AMU students by Yogi's goons and the brutal lathi-charge by the UP Police., AISA held protest demonstrations at several places across the Country.
Few goons of Hindu Yuva Vahini, a front of the RSS-BJP were allowed to enter the campus and unleash hooliganism on the pretext of Ex-VP Hamid Ansari's visit. They shouted slogans like 'AMU ke gaddaro ko, juta maro salo ko'. When the AMU students protested against it and asked the police to arrest these goons who clearly entered AMU with the intention to provoke and unleash violence, the police detained them for few minutes and subsequently released them before the scheduled program. The police attacked the AMU students instead who demanded arrest of the Hindu YuvaVahini goons. Several students including the AMUSU president was injured. The AMUSU president Maskoor Ahmad Usmani was hospitalized after being brutally assaulted by the police.
We have seen how the Sangh Parivaar attacked HCU and JNU. AMU was in the same series of attack. Dividing the nation on religious line is an old tactic of the Sangh. AISA demands immediate action against the Hindu Yuva Vahini which unleashed terror on campus, and the UP Police officials involved in lathi charging the students. AISA resolved to intensify it's struggle against all attempts by the RSS - BJP nexus to polarise the nation and push it's anti-minority, anti-student and anti-people policies. Over the next couple of days, AISA will hold protest demonstrations in Chandigarh, Allahabad, Rai Bareilly and Kanpur
