Holi Exposes Lawlessness in Bihar

In a shocking display of lawlessness, Bihar witnessed a surge in brutal feudal violence against Dalits, backward castes, and women during the Holi festival. CPI(ML) State Secretary Kunal has condemned the widespread attacks, stating that the government has completely abdicated its responsibility to ensure law and order. While crime rates have generally escalated, the most vulnerable sections of society have been disproportionately targeted.

The BJP-Nitish government has given free rein to criminals, resulting in a reign of terror in multiple districts. The worst-affected areas include Patna, where multiple incidents of assault and murder occurred in Bhelwara (Sampatchak), Tengeraila (Naubatpur), and Sihi Panchayat (Paliganj). In Siwan, members of the Paswan community were particularly targeted by dominant caste forces. A particularly horrific case was reported in Aurangabad, where a leader from the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) allegedly deliberately ran over a Paswan girl with his vehicle, leading to her death.

In response to these atrocities, CPI(ML) has announced a high-level fact-finding mission to investigate these incidents. The inquiry into the Aurangabad case will be led by CPIML MLC Shashi Yadav, Ghosi MLA Ram Bali Singh Yadav, and Gaya District Secretary Niranjan Kumar. Investigations into the Patna district attacks will be carried out under the leadership of Phulwari MLA Gopal Ravidas.

Comrade Kunal said that these incidents exposed the government’s hollow claims of championing Dalits, backward castes, and marginalised communities. “In just two days of Holi, feudal-criminal forces unleashed terror with impunity. This is a grave matter that exposes the BJP-Nitish regime’s complicity in suppressing the most oppressed,” he said. CPI(ML) has vowed to continue its struggle for justice and security for Bihar’s marginalised communities.
