Farmers and residents of Bagjala, in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani gathered on November 24 for a Kisan Panchayat organised by the All India Kisan Mahasabha (AIKM) to protest against eviction notices issued by the Forest Department. They condemned the attempt to take away their land and hand it over to corporate builders following plans for a stadium and other infrastructure in the area.

Anand Singh Negi, state president of the Kisan Mahasabha, said that the BJP-led government is planning to dispossess poor farmers in favour of capitalists. He called for a united response to defend their land and homes.

The protestors are demanding the withdrawal of eviction notices, recognition of their land ownership, and the resumption of key services like the "Har Ghar Nal" water scheme and infrastructure projects.

A protest will be held in Haldwani on December 23 if the government fails to meet these demands. The movement aims to ensure land rights, halt the exploitation of rural communities, and strengthen the fight for social justice.
