On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, the CPI(ML) launched a two-month-long Save the Constitution campaign on November 26, with marches organised at the Bihar Assembly and several villages across the state. The campaign aims to uphold the Constitution against ongoing attacks by the BJP-RSS on its core values and the rights it guarantees.
In Bihar, the initiative began with a series of marches across Bihar, including in Patna, Nawada, Darbhanga, Gaya, Masaurhi, Biharsharif, Bhagalpur, Siwan, and Daudnagar. Preamble of the Constitution was also read during the event as a reaffirmation of its principles. In Patna, a march led by CPI(ML) Politburo member Amar began at GPO Roundabout and culminated at Buddha Smriti Park.
Speaking at the Assembly, Mahboob Alam, leader of the CPI(ML) Legislative Party, said, “The BJP-RSS is tearing apart the Constitution, page by page, every day. Our fight is to mobilise the people using the very rights and tools the Constitution provides.” At Buddha Smriti Park, Comrades KD Yadav and Shambhunath Mehta highlighted the irony that while India celebrates the Constitution’s 75th anniversary, the BJP-RSS is systematically dismantling its spirit. The country-wide campaign will continue until January 26, 2025, marking the 75th anniversary of India becoming a Republic.
