Stree Mukti Sangathana held in Mumbai

Stree Mukti Sangathana, an organization founded by a group of women activists from the erstwhile Lal Nishan Party along with several feminist activists In 1975 recently celebrated 50 years. The organization was formed as a independent women's liberation organization.

In the backdrop of the deepening fascism in India the organization held a 2-day program in Mumbai on the 14th and 15th December. On 14th of December there was a audio visual program - Revisiting the milestones in the journey so far. It was attended by almost 800 men and women, both young and old. For the old it was a nostalgic event while for the young It was history unfolding.

On the 15th of December the Sanghatana had organised a one-day convention, with interactive sessions, on political, social, cultural and economic dimensions of women’s struggle for liberation.  The speakers represented the communist, socialist, Phule -Ambedkarite and feminist streams The communist and the socialist streams while noting the changes which have taken place in the political and social arena due to continuous struggles by the women on the ground, highlighted the present rise of Indian fascism and the need to confront the same. CPIML leader Ajit Patil participated in the event.

It was resolved to organize a 2-day convention of various women's organizations including that of political parties on 11th and 12th of January 2025 on the issue of women’s liberation and fighting fascism.
