A CPIML high level delegation comprised of Bihar MLA and AIARLA national president Satyadev Ram, UP party secretary Sudhakar Yadav and central committee member Shriram Chaudhary met the district magistrate of Sitapur to lodge their objections against the victimisation and Zilla-badar (externment) notice issued to party’s Sitapur secretary and Zilla Parishad sitting member comrade Arjun Lal.
While addressing the press in Sitapur Comrade Satyadev Ram said that by issuing the zilabadar notice for Arjun Lal ji, the district administration in Sitapur has acted like a muscleman of the ruling BJP. An elected Zila Parishad member and popular leader Arjun Lal has been facing persecution since BJP has come to power in the state, because he has courageously led the struggles of dalits and poor villagers in his constituency.
Satyadev Ram said that such an act by the administration is illegal and undermines the constitutional rights of an elected representative and demanded the expulsion notice should immediately be withdrawn. Comrade Arjun Lal comes from a dalit landless family. He is known for his uncompromising struggles for the poor villagers. He is CPIML UP state committee member.
In 2022 some members of the upper caste Rajput community perpetrated an attack on a dalit basti. When Arjun Lal went to the Hargaon police station to lodge a complaint he along with many other dalits was badly beaten up by the police and instead of filing an FIR for attack on dalits, a false case was imposed over comrade Arjun Lal and he was sent to jail. Now again on 21 September 2024 the same police station filed a report against Arjun Lal that was made the basis for his expulsion from the district.
