Charges Framed Against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, will be tried on charges of sexual harassment. On May 10th, a trial court in Delhi framed charges against the WFI chief under Sections 354 and 354A of the IPC. The court has noted that there is sufficient material to frame charges of sexual harassment, as also on charges of criminal intimidation and stalking in regard to five women survivors.

We may recall here that Brij Bhushan’s close associate and RSS pracharak Sanjay Singh was elected the new chief of WFI recently, and at the time, Brij Bhushan had said, “Dabdaba tha, dabdaba hai, aur dabdaba rahega”, insinuating at his influence over the sport. However, days after his election, the committee was dissolved by the Indian Olympics Association due to widespread resistance.

Contrary to their slogan of ‘beti padhao, beti bachao’, the BJP has been protecting perpetrators of violence against women - be it in Unnao, Hathras, or Kathua. Instead of initiating strict action against Brij Bhushan, the BJP has rewarded him by giving a ticket to his son - Karan - from Kaiserganj constituency. This exposes the jumla of ‘nari shakti vandan’ of the BJP, who has been protecting the MP despite the widespread protests of the women wrestlers seeking justice.
