Railway Must Notify Recruitment For Lakhs of Vacant Posts: CPIML

Condemning the brutal police repression on youth demanding railway recruitment in Patna on January 30, CPI(ML) Bihar State Secretary Kunal said that the railway must notify recruitment for lakhs of vacant posts for loco pilots.

Thousands of students had been protesting against the Railway Recruitment Board's (RRB) decision to notify only 5600 vacancies for assistant loco pilot. The protesting aspirants noted that around 3-6 lakh posts have been vacant in the Indian Railways for the past six years, but the RRB is refusing to fill these vacancies.

In Patna, as the aspirants marched with their demands, police launched a brutal crackdown against the youth. Many were severely injured in the police action.

Com. Kunal said that while the youth of the country are demanding jobs and education, the BJP is responding with violence. The Modi government had promised that it will provide 2 crore jobs every year to the youth, but in reality, what we witness today is that all avenues of employment are being snatched away. Modi-BJP regime is cheating the youth and students and playing with their future.

In Bihar, the 17-month tenure of the Mahagathbandan government opened several job opportunities and demonstrated that change is possible. Efforts from CPIML and students-youth's movement, ensured this change. The Mahagathbandan government recruited more than 2 lakh regular teaching positions.  What the Nitish-BJP couldn't do in years of their government, the 17-month government was able to achieve.

The violence against railway aspirants reflects that Nitish Kumar, who has somersaulted back to BJP is just a mere puppet of BJP and it's anti-people policies.

The protest by Railway aspirants was a response to the deceit and fraud perpetrated by the Modi government.
